Rihanna Talks about her former boyfriend with Pain,Tears and Love

A teary-eyed and fragile Rihanna has whole lot to say about her former boyfriend Chris Brown.  The two's infamous fight happened way back in 2009 where in Brown physically assaulted Rihanna, caused a media whirlwind, but she believes that wasn't the biggest problem. In a video clip from OWN, Rihanna breaks down to Oprah, tearfully explaining what she considers to be Brown's demons. His issues stem from something bigger, Rihanna claims, issues that may have prompted the altercation that defined their relationship.

A tearful Rihanna explains it thusly, "As angry as i was, as angry and hurt and betrayed: I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help...and who's going to help him?"

Rihanna and Orpha
The thought of Rihanna defending Brown's actions-those that involved him viscously beating her, causing severe cuts and bruises- is not a welcome thought for many, who believe that Brown has not been sufficiently punished by the public for his actions.  However, Rihanna stands her ground when it comes to Brown, explaining that she felt "protective" over him, and that Brown needs help, not hate, from the public right now. "Nobody going to say he needs help. Everybody's going to say he's a monster without looking at the source..I was more concerned about him."

Rihanna's sit down interview with Orpha takes this Sunday, and according to The Huffington Post Oprah herself was surprised by how the interviewed played out.  "I thought she was going to be kind of bad ass," Oprah explained.  Nothing could have been further from the truth."  Sounds like the world is able to see a different side of their pop princess.  A fact that may further fan the flames of rumors that the couple may be back together, despite Brown pleading guilty to felony assault, and being ordered to keep away from Rihanna.

This interview to be telecasted on August 19, on 9PM at OWN
