Benefits of being a Member of Parliament in India

    Politicians plays a huge role in a nation's development and destruction.  Every country provides certain amenities for their politicians, here we like to share some of amenities information about Members of Parliament in India.  Various amenities are provided to those MP's from Salaries and allowances, accommodation,  telephones, electricity, medical facilities etc.  Let's look through it broadly.

  Salary and Daily Allowance:
   For each elected MP their salary is Rs.50,000 per month.  The amount of daily allowance when the parliament session is active is Rs.2000.

  Travelling Allowance and Facilities:
   Air Travel:
   A MP is entitled to avail himself of 34 single air journey in a year, can be accompanied by his\her spouse or any other relative. The spouse /companion can travel alone for eight times in a year to meet the member of Parliament.  The balance of unused air journeys for a year shall be carried over to following years.
   Rail Travel:
   A  MP, on the strength of his identity card, is entitled to travel at any time by any railway in India in Executive class or in first class air-conditioned.  The ID card issued to the member is non-transferable.
   Road Travel:
   Road mileage allowance is provided to an MP if he travel through road ways, that is allowance money of Rs.16 per Km.

 Accommodation:
   For every Member of parliament a separate residential accommodation is provided.  These arrangements are made according to the criteria laid down by the House Committee. If a member is allotted a housing accommodation in the form of a bungalow at his will, he shall pay full normal licence fee for others licence-fee free flat or hostel accommodation is arranged.

Electricity and Water:
  Every member can use an amount of electricity up to 50,000 units per year from 1st of January every year in respect of residence allotted him in Delhi.  Member can also use up-to 4000KL of water per year without payment of charge.  If a member used both electricity and water above the mandatory limits, that excessive usage will be reduced from next year's allotment.

Office Allowance:
   Every member is entitled of office expense allowance at the rate of Rs.45,000 per month, out of which Rs.15,000 is for stationary expenses.

Telephone Facility:
   Every member is provided with three telephones without any charge of installation or rentals.  They can have up to 50,000 local calls are free for year, in each telephone. so totally 1,50,000 free local calls available to them in a year.

Medical Facilities:
   Under Central Government Health Scheme as extended to members, a member and his/her family are entitled to free medical treatment on a monthly contribution of Rs.500.

Pension Benefits:
   Every person who served as a member of parliament provided with a pension money of Rs.20,000 per month, if a person served over five years as a member of parliament will have a additional pension of Rs.1,500 every month.

As like benefits responsibility also more for them.  As benefits they have whole lot more, but how many of them justify their benefits is the question. It seems like politics turned out from service to more a job.
