Every car manufactured after 1995-96 has an On Board Diagnostics(OBD), this board usually placed under the dashboard of our car's. When your take your car for a service center they use an expensive monitoring equipment to connect the car's diagnostic component with this monitoring component, to diagnosis your car and collect the information's about car's behavior.
Now, you can covert your iOS or Android devices to do this job perfectly i.e., you can use it as a Car-Diagnostic tool with the help of a device called Kiwi tool from PLX Devices ($99 onward +shipping cost available in www.plxdevices.com) and a compatible app like Dash Command.
Working:
The PLX Devices hardware (Wi-Fi version of iOS or Bluetooth version of Android) gives a wireless connection from your car's OBD port to Phone. The Dash command app then decodes the data to display information like Corrected speed and rpm, Mileage, Engine load, Faults if any and Performance data's. The amount of information's on offer varies according to the car, but still it's a great tool for any car lovers
